Very likely yes. PMI counts project leadership experience from the last 10 years, and you do not need to have held the title “project manager.”
A four-year degree plus 36 months of project leadership experience, or a secondary degree plus 60 months, plus 35 contact hours of education. Exam fees rise in August 2026.
Fort Jackson trains more new soldiers than any installation in the Army, which means Columbia is full of drill sergeants, training company cadre, operations NCOs, and staff officers who have been running complex, deadline-driven projects for years without ever holding the title. PMI’s experience window reaches back 10 years, so that work likely still counts toward your eligibility. If you are transitioning out through Fort Jackson, or you are a spouse building a portable career in the Midlands, the PMP® is the most direct translation layer between what you have done and what civilian employers hire for. ROSEMET is a veteran-led company.
